Hi! I’m Jeannine,

At heart, I’ve always identified as an Artist. Since Legos, Lincoln Logs, and 4-H I’ve been a maker, pushing the limits of every creative skill or idea.

‍

Here are some facts about me:

  1. I'm a Morning Lark. Most days, I wake at 4 am, giving me 2 uninterrupted hours to fill my creative cup in the quiet predawn hours before the family wakes.

  2. Home: In 2021, my partner and I moved to Panama City, Florida, from Fairbanks, Alaska, and then in 2025 we moved again to the Space Coast of Florida. We love the beach but miss the snow. Side fact: I went to Alaska on a working-vacation-adventure in 2001 and stayed for 20 years.Family: I was a foster mom for many years before meeting our forever children. As mother in a transracial family, I feel passionate about telling our story and depicting characters that my children can identify with and feel empowered.

  3. Pets: We have two dogs; they are spoiled elderly aunties who lie at my feet while I make, and they monitor the children’s every move in search of crumbs & jam.

  4. Main Gig: I work as a full-time Licensed Mental Health Therapist. In my search for the right career I’ve worked all things food industry including owning a food truck and a summer gig cooking for wild land firefighters; I was also a web designer, a school behaviorist facilitating restorative justice programming, an advocate at a women’s shelter.

  5. Education: I completed my BA in Art from the University of Fairbanks Alaska focused on Metalsmithing and Painting.  I also completed a BA in Psychology with a minor in Women and Gender Studies from UAF which significantly influences my art lens. But my true creative love is ceramics which I have enjoyed since high school.  I have taken many courses over the years; active in the Bay Arts ceramics studio when living in Panama City, FL and improving throwing skills and exploring Raku at Eastern Florida State College in Cocoa FL.

  6. Mediums: I am a multi-passionate maker. Which means My ADHD will send me in new directions and I love deep diving into new ideas and learning new skills. My favorite art medium is clay but I also love paint, fiber, and digital art.

  7. Themes and Inspiration: Sometimes, I create for fun and sometimes to explore; from grief to female archetypes to shame to parenting to the natural world and my two decades living in rural Alaska.Dreams: I dream of old farmhouses, big joyful dinners in the backyard, all the places I dream of traveling to, and who my children will become in this complicated world.

  8. Coping Skills: I love gardening and have enjoyed learning about the tropical plants I can grow in Florida. Our Banana trees inspired me to briefly take on basket weaving a few winters ago. Making: is my favorite coping skills and how I tune out the noise, let go of the stress of modern living, and create balance in a busy life.
